This paper examines the monitoring and service assurance challenges that operators face as they transition to next-gen networks.
As operators migrate to NGN, IMS, LTE and WiMAX networks, they face a myriad of challenges in interworking technologies, protocols and applications. In this complex environment, service reliability, network performance and quality of experience are critical to ensuring profitability, maintaining a competitive advantage and retaining customers. Most legacy systems provide only local, limited views of the network.
They are not equipped to provide the end-to-end, real-time network and subscriber visibility required to compete in this multi-service, converged environment. IP-based networks require network-wide monitoring systems that can provide the domain and subscriber data to enable effective and profitable network growth, maintenance and management.
